Grivel, the specialist brand of climbing and hardwear equipment, now powers its Italian HQ completely on Solar Energy. Taking an aggressive view on the company’s environmental policy, Grivel have now placed over 7000 sq metres of solar panels on the factory roof to absorb the powerful rays from the sun.
Covering the same area as a football pitch, the solar panels now fully power Grivel’s entire Courmayeur operation. This means the planet will save over 806Kg of CO2 which is the equivalent to a car travelling 5,800Km and each year 1.173 barrels of oil will be saved.
On a recent visit to Grivel, UK distributors the Mountain Boot Company (MBC) got an impressive tour of the new power system. Commenting on this new addition MBC Managing Director Steve Roberts said; “The magnitude of Grivel’s eco project has been a massive investment for them and shows their commitment to the environment. With so many companies “green washing” their CSR policy it is great to be able to actually show retailers and consumers an active program which can easily be illustrated.”
